If you want to speak Italian you have to know the verbs very well. Without verbs our sentences will have no meaning, usually end up being fragments. In Italian there are three groups of verbs. You can distinguish them from their forms in infinitive: -are, -ere, -ire.

First Conjugation –      e.g.: PARLARE.

Second Conjugation –  e.g.: PRENDERE

Third Conjugation –    e.g.: DORMIRE
